Sandhi forms in Brazilian Portuguese/English interphonology – focus on listening comprehension

This study aimed at investigating listening comprehension of sandhi forms (assimilation, linking and contraction.) in Brazilian Portuguese/English Interphonology. Fifty-two learners English, aged 15 to 50 years old a minimum B1 level English proficiency, answered two tasks, one with another without forms, filled up questionnaire about the frequency they watched movies subtitles, listened songs paying attention their lyrics. The data collected were quantitatively qualitatively analyzed. Results indicated that tend cause difficulties for who participated study, especially when there content words involved form had minimal pair. Even though participants used watch series both Portuguese, better performance was observed among those consumed contents them.
